3 tons of Stoli Ice Bar
Hey Weekenders,
That’s right. No exaggeration here, the ice bar really is 3 tons. That’s about 6,000lbs. But the bar is much too heavy to travel here in one piece. It has been cut into 20, 300lb. pieces.
The pieces are then reassembled here in the big white party tent. Salt is used to build the pieces back into a bar. The salt is spread in between adjoining blocks. It melts a thin layer of ice on each of the adjoining pieces. But, the ice is so cold that it refreezes the blocks together into one solid piece.
The ice bar has bottles of Stoli Vodka frozen right into it. It takes about 7-8 days to freeze the bottles in the blocks, then about two weeks to carve and move the pieces.
All of the ice sculpture at this years Borsheims party comes from Muzzy Ice, right here in Omaha.
Muzzy Ice fitting the pieces together:

Muzzy Ice also provided the loose bar ice, which totals about 5 tons.
See you at the party,
Bill the blogger.
