2008 Shareholders Movie Screen

8:30 am and the Shareholders movie

Hey Weekenders,

I am watching the movie now and it is pretty cool. I am prohibited from recording the movie, so the closest I can get you to the action visually is the blue screen saver. But here goes my description.

It opens with a time lapse sequence that shows all the work that the Qwest Center went through to be ready for this event. It shows all the attendees of the Berkshire meeting. And then it says Welcome in more languages than I can recognize.

This is followed by a Charlie Munger Cartoon. _What if Charlie Munger ran for President _. Munger’s cartoon persona cracks up the crowd with this: “This country needs a leader who knows how to make money, not just spend it.” Warren Buffett plays the campaign manager and Bill Gates plays the online pollster.

Of course, every Berkshire company plays a small part in the cartoon.

The next segment is called The Last Laugh with John Fortune and John Bird. It is a discussion of subprime mortgage. Very Funny

Then with a grand introduction Jimmy Buffett comes on to sing a special Berkshire Margaritaville. Then Warren and Charlie come on to speak.

There are a lot of great segments.

But my favorite parts of the video, were the interviews from last year’s shareholder meeting. They were really flattering to Omaha. Everyone appeared very happy and like they had a lot of fun. It seemed like much more than a shareholders meeting to those interviewed, it seemed more like a meeting of friends.

See you out there,
Bil, the blogger.
