2008 Berkshire Hathaway Annual Shareholders Meeting

Hello Weekenders,

As you might know 31,000 people came from all over the world to listen to these two men speak. In the first 10-15 minutes the massive arena was full. Shortly following it was only standing room in the overflow upstairs.

My first impression is that these are two very funny men. I think that the crowd has spent as much time laughing as they have applauding.

I am also amazed that they do not have prepared speeches or preplanned questions. Their honesty and patience seem to be enough to ensure smooth sailings in this meeting. They are still answering unplanned questions as I am writing this.

My next post will share some quotes and advice that Mr. Buffett and Mr. Munger gave. But before I do that I just wanted to add a personal note to this blog.

I have never heard either of these men speak at length before, but rarely have I heard anyone so honest, charismatic, humorous and intelligent. It is easy to see why so many people from so many places travel here to the heart of the Midwest each year to hear these men speak. It is something akin to being in the presence of greatness. bq.
