Warren Buffett, Charlie Munger on Gold Coins

Monday, April 30th, 2012

We know Warren Buffett did not speak in the most favorable manner about gold in this year’s annual letter to shareholders

But – we think he will speak very favorably about these gold coins.

Warren Buffett Gold CoinCharlie Munger Gold CoinThat’s a half-an-ounce of fine gold (22 karats to be exact). We have them with both Warren Buffett’s likeness and Charlie Munger’s likeness. They will be available at the Borsheims booth at the CenturyLink Center Saturday during the annual meeting.

The 22k Gold Coin is $990. We are also offering a silver version for $49 and a gold plated silver version for $59.

You can get the image in a money clip or a pendant, too. They’re pretty cool! And a Warren-Buffett-approved way to buy some gold.

Sticks and Stones can make your home more beautiful…

Friday, April 27th, 2012

At least they can if they come from Borsheims!

We have a bunch of new items in our Gift Gallery awaiting Berkshire Hathaway shareholders.

Sticks is a line that was very popular last year, so we brought in even more this year. They’re based out of Des Moines and make unique art, accessories and furniture.

Sticks accessories and furnitureIf Sticks are popular, then I’m sure these stones will be, too. I’m not sure how they make these, but I can definitely appreciate good presentation (and a good margarita or glass of wine!).

Do you have a question for Warren Buffett?

Thursday, April 26th, 2012

If you have a burning question for Warren Buffett (or Charlie Munger), you had better get your questions in quickly. At least a third of the questions asked during the Berkshire Hathaway annual shareholders meeting will be coming from those submitted by shareholders to three financial journalists. Mr. Buffett has requested that you email your questions to those journalists ahead of time. They are:

Carol Loomis of Fortune – cloomis@fortunemail.com

Becky Quick of CNBC - BerkshireQuestions@cnbc.com

Andrew Ross Sorkin of The New York Times – arsorkin@nytimes.com.

Each journalist will choose about a dozen questions they deem the most interesting and important. Mr. Buffett also says to let the journalists know if you want your name mentioned if they choose your question.

Audience members will have a chance to ask questions as well. A drawing will be held at 8:15am at each of the 13 microphones. And there is apparently a better chance at some microphones than others! Read this article from the Wall Street Journal about how one group gamed the system last year.

Mr. Buffett has promised Fidelity won’t be able to do it again this year. He also added a panel of three financial analysts to ask Berkshire-specific questions. The analysts are Cliff Gallant of KBW, Jay Gelb of Barclays Capital and Gary Ransom of Dowling and Partners.

The Eagle has Landed for Berkshire Hathaway Weekend

Wednesday, April 25th, 2012
It was installed yesterday and it’s beautiful!

Bronze Eagle

See it there underneath the tree just to the right of the entrance? The bronze eagle is 5 foot tall with a 6 foot wingspan. And it weighs about 400 pounds.

Bronze Eagle up closeIt looks beautiful outside of Borsheims, but it will likely not be there long. This is one of the items for sale at Borsheims during Berkshire Hathaway shareholders weekend. The retail price is $62,000, but of course there’s a special price for shareholders.

So think about it… maybe you have the perfect new home for this eagle. We know how to ship!. The artist is from Omaha – Matthew Placzek – and he tells us this is #2 of 9 total, and #1 is located at a Social Security building in Pennsylvania.

New Berkshire Hathaway Memorabilia

Wednesday, April 25th, 2012

Berkshire Hathaway shareholders love to sport their Berkshire Hathaway love. At Borsheims, we’re happy to help them!

We’ve adorned them in t-shirts, hats and bags proudly sporting the Berkshire Hathaway name. This year, we have a few new ways to show your BRK pride.

iPad cover with BRK logoIt seems like everyone has an iPad, doesn’t it!?! But does everyone have a BRK iPad cover? I don’t think so! We’re selling them for $99 and only have a limited supply, so you may need to pick yours up early!

Berkshire Hathaway headquarters has a theme for each annual meeting. This year’s theme is Stars and Stripes. We interpreted that in a patriotic way with our memorabilia. We have a flag pen, our latest Berkshire edition of the Christopher Radko ornament, and a very patriotic looking Warren and Charlie money clip!

Berkshire Hathaway money clipA lot of your old favorites will be back, too… including Berkshire Hathaway monopoly, golf balls and bags to carry it all home in!

You can browse our selection online now by clicking here, but some of the new stuff won’t be available until Berkshire Hathaway weekend. See you then!

They’re each made of thousands of Swarovski crystals and natural feathers. And they’re life-sized!

They are done by artist Clara Brinkerhoff. She is involved in some important collections and exhibitions, including one of Picasso paintings and another with glass artist Dale Chihuly. She is extremely talented!

They retail from about $12,000 and up, but you know to ask and get a better deal, right?

Berkshire Hathaway Shareholder Could Make History

Monday, April 23rd, 2012

At Borsheims, we always bring in exceptional jewelry, watches and gifts to showcase for our Berkshire Hathaway shareholders during the annual meeting. This year, we’re offering one customer the chance to make history!

Borsheims is presenting a 35,80 carat rough diamond for sale.35 carat rough diamond offered for sale to Berkshire Hathaway shareholders

But the offer doesn’t stop there. The customer who purchases the diamond will journey to Ontario, Canada to work with a master diamantaire to determine the final polished shape of the diamond. That will make this the largest diamond ever mined, cut and polished in Canada.

The diamond originates from the Victor Mine, which is operated by De Beers Canada. The mine is located on the James Bay Coast of Northern Ontario and it produces some of the world’s rarest diamonds.

The customer who purchases the diamond will journey to Sudbury, Ontario, and get a look into the diamond pipeline that is very rarely seen. Once they select the shape for the stone to be cut, the diamond will be cut and polished, then sent via armored car to the Forevermark Diamond Institute in Belgium to be graded and inscribed with the Forevermark logo and a unique identification number. The customer can continue to customize their diamond by having a special message inscribed on the girdle and by choosing a unique faceting pattern to be added to the culet of their diamond.

What an experience!

The price? It’s $2 million retail, but you know we’ll give a much better Borsheims price, plus a Berkshire Hathaway shareholder discount!

Come check it out in the store during Berkshire Hathaway annual shareholders weekend and chat with one of our great sales team if you’re interested in making history!

Berkshire Hathaway weekend: A Reason to Celebrate?

Thursday, April 19th, 2012

When Warren Buffett sold jewelry at Borsheims last year during the Berkshire Hathaway annual shareholders weekend, several of the customers were celebrating special occasions.

There was one couple celebrating their 50th anniversary; another their 30th anniversary. One man was celebrating with a self-purchase – a watch to commemorate his graduation.

Read several of the stories in our recap from last year here.

We want to know… are you celebrating a special occasion this year? Do you plan to purchase something during the Berkshire Hathaway shareholders weekend to commemorate it? Do you hope to make that purchase from Mr. Buffett?

Leave a comment about it or send me an email. I want to hear your stories!

On Warren Buffett’s Health…

Wednesday, April 18th, 2012

There are a lot of stories covering the news from Warren Buffett yesterday about his Stage 1 prostate cancer, but we think the best thing to read is from Warren Buffett himself.

Click here to read his letter to shareholders about the diagnosis.

We wish Mr. Buffett well in his treatment and recovery, and we will tell him as much when we see him in a few weeks at the Berkshire Hathaway annual shareholders meeting.
