Thursday, April 7th, 2011You didn’t think that last jewelry post talked about all the product we have new for shareholders, did you? At Borsheims, we’re always adding new lines to our huge inventory. Here are some more great pieces we’ll have in store:
For those Berkshire Hathaway shareholders from Nebraska or those who can’t get enough Nebraska, you can sport your love of all things red and Husker around your neck or your wrist, or dangling from your ears. Who doesn’t love Husker jewelry? (Quiet all you Texas fans!).
Borsheims has a HUGE watch department, featuring watches from more than two dozen lines, including Cartier, Jaeger-LeCoultre, and many others we can’t sell online. One of our newest watch lines is Swarovski. Yes, the same Swarovski of the crystal fame. The ceramic watches have been very hot sellers!
Another new line is so very cool, I wanted our expert sales associate to tell you about it. From Soldier to Soldier is near and dear to Danielle Gray’s heart. She says these survival bracelets are not only fashionable, but also could be very useful to a soldier in the field – including the one she loves! And $25 of each purchase goes to support organizations that help wounded soldiers and their families.

holders’ weekend. Here’s a sneak peek at a few of the goodies:
Miriam Salat is all over the fashion world. Her pieces have been worn by Oprah, First Lady Michelle Obama, Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Hudson, Sandra Bullock and Sofia Vergara. With cuffs, bangles, earrings, rings and necklaces, Miriam Salat takes resin, sterling silver and 18k gold and transforms them into gorgeous statement pieces.
Soho jewelry uses its own unique array of multi-dimensional enamel to craft these gorgeous rings and earrings. Their website says it best – calling themselves a great mix of “bold yet comfortable dimensions that juxtapose the industrial, natural and artistic kingdoms.”

Have your Berkshire Hathaway credentials yet?
Tuesday, March 29th, 2011Did you get your credentials in the mail yet? I haven’t seen any, but talked with a couple this weekend who said they received theirs just a few days ago. And just having the credentials in hand made them so excited that they spent the weekend “pre-shopping” at Borsheims and Nebraska Furniture Mart, picking out what all they’ll buy during the Berkshire Hathaway annual shareholders weekend.
How fun!
If you don’t have your credentials yet, don’t worry! Here’s the scoop from Berkshire Hathaway headquarters:- - The 2010 Annual Reports were mailed to shareholders of record and beneficial-but-not-of-record shareholders in mid-March.
- - Included in the mailing was a Proxy Statement
- - A perforated postcard was attached to the Proxy
- - Fill out and return the postcard to order your meeting credentials
- - Shareholders are entitled to a maximum of 4 meeting credentials
- - The credentials are required for the meeting and other weekend events, as well as to receive special shareholder pricing during the discount period.

Berkshire Sunday Brunch

Good Morning Berkshire Shareholders,
And what a beautiful morning it is. Sunny and not a cloud in the sky, we are expecting a high of 73 degrees today. I hope that you are enjoying your stay in Omaha, and that you will stop by Borsheims today for the final day of the shareholder’s weekend. We have many exciting activities going on this morning and this afternoon. Right now, a delicious brunch of is being served both in the courtyard and in the party tent. The party tent is also enjoying the musical stylings of Notes of the Round Table, a Jazz Combo from local 
Westside High School. And, of course, we will be offering deep shareholder discounts on thousands of jewelry and watches in the Borsheims store all day.
The crowds are beginning to build inside the Regency Courtyard in anticipation of the afternoon’s activities and a visit from the Oracle of Omaha, Warren Buffett. This year we have a lot of exciting entertainment. It all begins at 1 p.m. In the courtyard of Regency Court, two-time U.S. chess Champion Patrick Wolff will be playing against several opponents at once, probably blindfolded. We plan to project the games on a large screen to make it easier for everyone to see.
We have also invited magician Norman Beck back this year to befuddle and astound the crowd. One big change this year is the addition of top-ranked junior table tennis player Ariel Hsing. She joined us in 2007 and we are happy to welcome her back again! And of course anxious to watch her challenge Mr. Buffett. Table tennis matches will be held in the courtyard, where bridge was held last year.

Judith Leiber: Jeweled Handbags

Every year at Borsheims we welcome many of our jewelry designers and vendors to visit the store during the Berkshire Weekend. That way, as a shareholder, you have the chance to meet and chat with some of the best jewelry designers in the world. Each of these special vendors brings along thousands of exquisite pieces that will be on display exclusively during the Berkshire Shareholder’s Weekend.
I take a lot of photos of these stunning, special pieces and I will be sharing them this year in a series of posts 
highlighting different jewelry vendors that have come to the 2010 shareholder’s meeting. In this post, I wanted to share some photos of the amazing Judith Leiber collection of jeweled handbags and pillboxes that we have on display this weekend. You may know Judith Leiber’s work from the Sex and the City movie, which featured a be-jeweled cupcake minaudiere. Judith Leiber pieces are always something special to see at Borsheims, but during the shareholder’s weekend we receive some exceptional pieces.

This weekend draws huge crowds and some well-known celebrities to Omaha every year. This year, you have the chance to meet Ralph Nader. I ran into the former presidential candidate at his book signing. Mr. Nader is part of the Meet the Authors being hosted by The Bookwork. This event is still going on for a few more minutes. It is running from 11 a.m. ’till 4 p.m. in south end of the Qwest Center.
Mr. Nader is here to promote his new book, Only the Super-Rich Can Save Us! It is on sale for $22 (shareholder price) during the Berkshire Weekend. The book is described as:Nader’s work of fiction paints a portrait of what America could become, asking: What if several of America’s wealthiest individuals decided it was a good time to work for the collective good?I shot this short video of Mr. Nader and I thought that I would share it with you.

Berkshire Shopping with Susie

As Berkshire Hathaway weekend draws closer, you are probably planning your time in Omaha. While you’re in town, we hope you are planning to stop by Borsheims for our Friday night cocktail reception and our shopping day and brunch on Sunday.
I recently had the chance to talk with Susie, from Borsheims, about her many years of Berkshire experience. She has been working at Borsheims since 1992 and has some great advice for all you visitors. Check out her video below for Berkshire weekend tips.
Susie also shared with me some of the hottest trends in jewelry this year. According to her, multi-colored diamonds, multi-row necklaces and yellow gold are all very in-style right now. So, if get the chance to stop by Borsheims this weekend, I hope that you will get a chance to talk with Susie.

Berkshire Shareholder’s Cocktail Party

Well, the wait is finally over. The Berkshire Hathaway Shareholder’s Weekend is finally upon us. It is just about time to get the party started, so we hope that you have already made it over to Borsheims (map to Borsheims) for the shareholder cocktail reception. Join us for the first party of the weekend tonight from 6 p.m. till 10 p.m. We have a huge, party tent set up in our parking lot where you can get a delicious cocktail and some snacks. The entertainment for the night, Soul Dawg will be taking the stage at around six. And, of course, fabulous shopping will be available with your shareholder discount all night.
