I want to officially welcome you to the kick-off of Berkshire Hathaway shareholder weekend 2011. The fun begins tonight with our shareholder only cocktail party at Borsheims. We are hard at work here getting everything ready for you. Our main work? Cramming carefully displaying as much jewelry as we can in our cases so you’ll have the biggest selection at the lowest price (Berkshire price!!!).
We also have hundreds of shareholders already shopping. So join the fun early. You don’t have to wait for the cocktails to be poured to start perusing the selection!
The Berkshire Hathaway shareholder discount period started yesterday (Monday) at Borsheims and begins today at Nebraska Furniture Mart. We had a store full of shoppers at Borsheims yesterday, eager to take advantage of the discount and get their shopping done before the big crowds arrive this weekend.
Here are some details about the discounts:
Please bring your shareholder pass with you. You don’t have to wear it around your neck, but we will want to see it at some point.
The discounts vary by item (at both Borsheims and Nebraska Furniture Mart), so we can only tell you what the discount will be on each particular item.
The discount at Borsheims runs through next Saturday (May 7).
The discount at Nebraska Furniture Mart runs through Monday (May 2).
Record Sales Anticipated from Buffett, Borsheims Booth
The addition of Berkshire Hathaway Chairman and CEO Warren Buffett to Borsheims’ expert sales staff is expected to be a highlight of this year’s Berkshire Hathaway annual shareholders’ weekend. Mr. Buffett, who sold shoes at J.C. Penney’s 63 years ago, expects to prove himself as a “hotshot salesman” and is encouraging shareholders to come, buy and “make me look good.”
Buffett’s sales won’t be the only boost to Borsheims sales during this year’s shareholder weekend. For the first time, Borsheims is taking jewelry to its booth at the Qwest Center exhibition hall to sell during the annual meeting Saturday. The jewelry is available at a steep discount and only at the Qwest Center during the April 30 meeting. The jewelry includes diamond earrings, pearl necklaces, watches and more. An example of the discount? A diamond anniversary band valued at $825 will sell at the Qwest Center for $405.
Borsheims is excited to host the large crowds both at Borsheims and the Qwest Center. Here are a few guidelines to help shareholders navigate the crowds:
Any Berkshire Hathaway shareholder will have the opportunity to purchase from Mr. Buffett, but time and space constraints will dictate how many shareholders will get in.
Berkshire Hathaway shareholders hoping to purchase from Mr. Buffett should be in the store and shopping around 1pm on Sunday, May 1.
The Borsheims Booth Deals will be available ONLY at the Qwest Center and ONLY on Saturday.

As in the past, Borsheims shareholder pricing begins in store today and runs through Saturday, May 7. Shareholders can take advantage of the discounts on jewelry, watches and gifts at any time over the next two weeks.
Since becoming a Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary 21 years ago, Borsheims has been proud to host shareholders during the annual meeting. This year, shareholders will be welcomed to Borsheims for an exclusive cocktail reception on Friday, April 29, from 6 pm – 9 pm. They’ll also be treated to a shareholder-only shopping day on Sunday, May 1, from 9 am to 4 pm.

These flower earrings have 15.56 carats of Fancy Colored Diamonds. Retail price is $990,000.
And there’s great news! Even though the retail price of those earrings is close to $1 million, the Borsheims price is $875,000. And more great news… Berkshire Hathaway shareholders get an even better (but undisclosed in a public forum like this) discount.

Ever wondered what it’s like at Borsheims in the days leading up to the Berkshire Hathaway annual shareholders’ weekend? Here’s Borsheims’ Director of Merchandise to fill you in:
There are a few surprises awaiting Berkshire Hathaway shareholders when they arrive for this year’s Berkshire Hathaway annual shareholders’ weekend… and they’re currently in the works behind these makeshift construction walls.
There are two areas under construction. The photo on the left is in the watch area of the sales floor. This will be a Cartier shop-in-shop. A large Cartier backdrop and new showcases with red carpeting will set the Cartier shop apart from the rest of the sales floor. Borsheims is the only place in the area you can shop for Cartier products and we’re thrilled to have this shop-in-shop concept coming to Borsheims.
The photo on the right is of the new Pandora shop-in-shop. Pandora is a new line to Borsheims, and specializes in delivering genuine, high quality jewelry and accessories at affordable prices. You may know them best for their line of charms.
Both shop-in-shops are scheduled to be completed in time for the Berkshire Hathaway annual shareholders’ weekend. In fact, we’re hoping to get them done by early next week!

Another new line is so very cool, I wanted our expert sales associate to tell you about it. From Soldier to Soldier is near and dear to Danielle Gray’s heart. She says these survival bracelets are not only fashionable, but also could be very useful to a soldier in the field – including the one she loves! And $25 of each purchase goes to support organizations that help wounded soldiers and their families.

Miriam Salat is all over the fashion world. Her pieces have been worn by Oprah, First Lady Michelle Obama, Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Hudson, Sandra Bullock and Sofia Vergara. With cuffs, bangles, earrings, rings and necklaces, Miriam Salat takes resin, sterling silver and 18k gold and transforms them into gorgeous statement pieces.
Soho jewelry uses its own unique array of multi-dimensional enamel to craft these gorgeous rings and earrings. Their website says it best – calling themselves a great mix of “bold yet comfortable dimensions that juxtapose the industrial, natural and artistic kingdoms.”
Charles Garnier, a longtime leader in the design of 18k gold earrings has something new for Berkshire Hathaway shareholders: sterling silver pendants and bangles, all plated in silver, yellow and rose gold! I’m sure more than a few shareholders won’t be able to resist using their shareholder discount and taking a few of these pieces home!
Did you get your credentials in the mail yet? I haven’t seen any, but talked with a couple this weekend who said they received theirs just a few days ago. And just having the credentials in hand made them so excited that they spent the weekend “pre-shopping” at Borsheims and Nebraska Furniture Mart, picking out what all they’ll buy during the Berkshire Hathaway annual shareholders weekend.

If you don’t have your credentials yet, don’t worry! Here’s the scoop from Berkshire Hathaway headquarters:
- The 2010 Annual Reports were mailed to shareholders of record and beneficial-but-not-of-record shareholders in mid-March.
- Included in the mailing was a Proxy Statement
- A perforated postcard was attached to the Proxy
- Fill out and return the postcard to order your meeting credentials
- Shareholders are entitled to a maximum of 4 meeting credentials
- The credentials are required for the meeting and other weekend events, as well as to receive special shareholder pricing during the discount period.
So make sure you get those postcards in! We want to see you during the Berkshire Hathaway annual shareholders weekend and during the shopping period. Remember, the discount at Borsheims runs from Monday, April 25, to Saturday, May 7. The discount at Nebraska Furniture Mart runs from Tuesday, April 26, to Monday, May 2.
