Okay, so all 40,000 of you shareholders won’t fit in the tent at the same time, but about that many of you will be in the tent at some point this weekend. And why wouldn’t you? This place is fun once the food, bars, tables, band and shareholders get in here!
A few fast facts about the tent:
- It is the largest tent we can fit in our parking lot. Trust us. We’ve tried to make a larger one fit. It won’t.
- We are putting it up (today) Thursday and it takes all day to erect the tent and then get it all set up inside.
- This tent is tough… in past years, it has withstood torrential rain, crazy winds and even a little hail. But let’s not try that again.
Come join us in the tent. Party starts tomorrow and ends Sunday, and the tent will be here for all of it.
Things are bright – very bright – in the Borsheims gift gallery. Several new lines in the fine gift department will greet Berkshire Hathaway shareholders this weekend and nearly every line is in bright, beautiful colors.
This hand-painted and wood-burned furniture from Sticks will greet shareholders at the entrance to the gallery. Sticks owners say they create finely crafted and beautifully designed object art, accessories and furniture that can best be described as unique, fun and imaginative.
Consuela (on the right) is another new line at Borsheims. They hand-craft rustic picture frames, boxes and crosses in their workshop in Texas.
Borsheims is always proud to feature merchandise from local artists and this artist is no exception. Anne Nye Art Glass is the brightest thing I’ve seen in a long time! Check out all the brilliant colors – and this is just a small sampling!
But if that’s not enough color, feel free to host your next party with polka-dot serveware and drinkware from Detroit Glass. This product is beautiful and very affordable!
Shardz’ creator, Fay Miller, says her handblown art glass is inspired by the beauty, geometry and harshness of the natural world.
Here’s something not in brilliant color, but in gorgeous bronze. Manuel Ferreiro creates each individual bronze art object with a story in his mind. He includes the story and meaning behind the piece in a card that accompanies the art. Come check out the story behind these spectacles at Borsheims!
The Royal Couple may be receiving some gifts from Mary Rose Young pottery as wedding gifts this weekend. The company out of Great Britian crafts a unique range of ceramics in unique color combinations. What do you think… is this Princess Kate’s style?
And I don’t know who wouldn’t love this style. These are called glassscapes and I think they are the coolest new line I’ve seen this year. Stone Ridge Glass makes these interactive and moveable sculptures, and they even light up! They have some abstract and some representational. Both are available at Borsheims.
With the addition of Warren Buffett to Borsheims’ expert sales staff, Borsheims is prepared for an even larger than normal crowd of Berkshire Hathaway shareholders during the 2011 Annual Meeting weekend. Members of the media are welcome to visit Borsheims during the Berkshire Hathaway Weekend. Here’s your guide:
CREDENTIALS
Check in both Friday evening and Sunday at Borsheims by entering the northeast doors of Regency Court, near Garbo’s Salon. If you received an email from me, you’re on the list and we’re expecting you.
POOL CAMERA
Because of space and security constraints, access to the media will be limited while Warren Buffett is selling jewelry inside Borsheims. You will be allowed to stand with other shareholders at a distance from Mr. Buffett and take your video/photos. Two pool cameras will supply up close shots.
Our video crew will have the b-roll available on an ftp site within two hours of the event. Please test out the site and download by clicking this link and then clicking the download button. If this type of file does not work for you, let me know and we’ll figure out a file that will. I will send out an email to everyone with the link(s) to the file(s) on Sunday as soon as it is available. If you received an email with this message on Wednesday, you’ll receive the email with the link on Sunday.
Our still photographer is Nati Harnik with the Associated Press. Since he is the designated pool photographer, everyone will have access to his photos. If you don’t know how to gain access to pool AP photos, I’ll put you in touch with Nati at the event.

Borsheims Shareholder Only Cocktail Reception 6pm – 9pm
Look for:
- Shareholders shopping and receiving exclusive discounts on more than 100,000 pieces of jewelry, watches and fine gifts
- Shareholders enjoying signature cocktails like a Fortune Fizz, Profit Punch, & Berkshire Brew
Borsheims is one of the nation’s largest independent jewelry stores. Proudly celebrating its 22nd year of being a Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary, the store is known for its extensive selection of jewelry, watches and gifts, its exemplary customer service and its exceptional “Borsheims price.”
Record Sales Anticipated from Buffett, Borsheims Booth
The addition of Berkshire Hathaway Chairman and CEO Warren Buffett to Borsheims’ expert sales staff is expected to be a highlight of this year’s Berkshire Hathaway annual shareholders’ weekend. Mr. Buffett, who sold shoes at J.C. Penney’s 63 years ago, expects to prove himself as a “hotshot salesman” and is encouraging shareholders to come, buy and “make me look good.”
Buffett’s sales won’t be the only boost to Borsheims sales during this year’s shareholder weekend. For the first time, Borsheims is taking jewelry to its booth at the Qwest Center exhibition hall to sell during the annual meeting Saturday. The jewelry is available at a steep discount and only at the Qwest Center during the April 30 meeting. The jewelry includes diamond earrings, pearl necklaces, watches and more. An example of the discount? A diamond anniversary band valued at $825 will sell at the Qwest Center for $405.
Borsheims is excited to host the large crowds both at Borsheims and the Qwest Center. Here are a few guidelines to help shareholders navigate the crowds:
Any Berkshire Hathaway shareholder will have the opportunity to purchase from Mr. Buffett, but time and space constraints will dictate how many shareholders will get in.
Berkshire Hathaway shareholders hoping to purchase from Mr. Buffett should be in the store and shopping around 1pm on Sunday, May 1.
The Borsheims Booth Deals will be available ONLY at the Qwest Center and ONLY on Saturday.
A complete list of the Borsheims Booth Deals is available at www.borsheimsbrk.com.
As in the past, Borsheims shareholder pricing begins in store today and runs through Saturday, May 7. Shareholders can take advantage of the discounts on jewelry, watches and gifts at any time over the next two weeks.
Since becoming a Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary 21 years ago, Borsheims has been proud to host shareholders during the annual meeting. This year, shareholders will be welcomed to Borsheims for an exclusive cocktail reception on Friday, April 29, from 6 pm – 9 pm. They’ll also be treated to a shareholder-only shopping day on Sunday, May 1, from 9 am to 4 pm.

For the first time, Borsheims will be selling jewelry from its booth at the Qwest Center during the Berkshire Hathaway annual shareholders’ meeting. Borsheims has always joined other Berkshire Hathaway subsidiaries in the exhibition hall during the meeting, but has sold Berkshire Hathaway memorabilia. This year, in addition to the memorabilia, Borsheims is offering amazing deals on several jewelry box staples.
Here’s a list of what you can find at the Qwest Center Saturday. Bring your wallets and plan accordingly!
Me neither. But get ready for a close up view of it:
This is the art adorning our main entrance at Borsheims, ready to greet Berkshire Hathaway shareholders when they arrive this week. It is a microphotograph (meaning a reallyclose close-up) of a Moldavite Tektite stone.
Looks like a mountain scene, no? One of our favorite artists, John Koivula, took this amazing microphotograph. This moldavite tektite was found in the Czech Republic and has unbroken, mountainous, glassy spires. It is believed that moldavite was formed 15 million years ago by the impact of a meteorite. Here’s what it looks like not-so-up-close.

So come on over, Berkshire Hathaway shareholders. Admire our close, personal view of Moldavite Tektite. And then come into Borsheims and see all the other amazing stones we have!
Every year, we bring in thousands of extra pieces of amazing jewelry just for our Berkshire Hathaway shareholders’ weekend.
Check out what I got to spend some time with today:
64.84 carat diamond necklace available at Borsheims. Retail price is $730,000.
I have such a difficult job, don’t I?
But wait… then I was forced to photograph this!
46.82 carats of Fancy Colored Diamonds make up this necklace, available now at Borsheims.
If only my lovely camera could better showcase the fanciness of those diamonds! All 35 and 1/2 inches of diamonds were quite, quite fancy.
What’s that? You need earrings to match?
Okay.
These flower earrings have 15.56 carats of Fancy Colored Diamonds. Retail price is $990,000.
And there’s great news! Even though the retail price of those earrings is close to $1 million, the Borsheims price is $875,000. And more great news… Berkshire Hathaway shareholders get an even better (but undisclosed in a public forum like this) discount.
So go ahead. Start making your wish list. And if you’re not in the position to buy these major pieces, don’t worry! We have thousands of pieces of jewelry that will fit EVERY budget.
It happens every year. Berkshire Hathaway shareholders come to Omaha to attend the Berkshire Hathaway annual shareholders’ meeting, visit the exhibition hall at the Qwest Center and end up buying more than they can carry home with them.
Well fret no more, people. Borsheims has the solution right inside its booth at the Qwest Center. It’s called the RuMe bag:
The bag rolls up into a tiny size to fit in your pocket, purse or briefcase. Then, when you need it (like after you’ve purchased armloads of Berkshire Hathaway-related products), just unroll it and go. You can fit a lot of goodies into the 15.5″ bag. But don’t try to take the Dilly bars home in the bag. They melt and MUST be eaten immediately!
If perusing this website on a large computer screen isn’t your thing, you can now get all your Berkshire Hathaway shareholder weekend related updates on the go. We’re mobile-ready. And so are you.
So keep checking in with www.borsheimsbrk.com from your phone in the airport, cab, restaurant, coffee shop, etc. Just not while you’re driving, okay?
