Then you should bring them a little souvenir, no?

We have long carried children’s jewelry at Borsheims, but we made it extra easy for you to find this year. Earrings, necklaces bracelets and rings. All at your Berkshire Hathaway discounted price.

Why wouldn’t you introduce your daughter (or granddaughter, or niece or sister) to the infamous silver box with the burgandy ribbon? Bonus: you can also teach her about shopping wisely by using your discount.

Salesman Warren Buffett gives Borsheims Best Weekend Ever

Wednesday, May 4th, 2011

Warren Buffett said he wanted to prove himself as a hotshot salesman, and he did! The Chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway spent Sunday behind the sales counter at Borsheims Fine Jewelry & Gifts and made dozens of sales. Mr. Buffett’s skills, combined with the buying power of tens of thousands of Berkshire Hathaway shareholders, led Borsheims to its best weekend ever.

Mr. Buffett sold several items, including anniversary rings for couples celebrating their 30th and 50th anniversaries, necklaces and watches. He talked with customers about their purchases and closed the deal for many buyers. One couple was looking to replace a wedding ring the wife lost on vacation, and Buffett told of a similar thing happening to his first wife, Susan Buffett. He told customers that he never regretted buying jewelry for his family members.

In all, sales at Borsheims for the first week of the Berkshire Hathaway shareholder discount period were up 45% over last year. That period includes Berkshire Hathaway shareholders weekend and the time on Sunday when Warren Buffett sold jewelry.

Borsheims President & CEO Susan Jacques said it was Borsheims best weekend of sales ever. “We knew Warren would be a successful salesman and he did not disappoint,” Jacques said. “We’ll welcome him back to our expert sales team anytime.”

Borsheims is one of the nation’s largest independent jewelry stores. Proudly celebrating its 22nd year of being a Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary, the store is known for its extensive selection of jewelry, watches and gifts, its exemplary customer service and its exceptional “Borsheims price.”

So what exactly did Warren Buffett sell at Borsheims?

We never release sales figures here at Borsheims, but we can tell you a few stories about what Warren Buffett sold here during the Berkshire Hathaway annual shareholders’ weekend.

The husbands of a few very lucky women purchased rings for them. One couple was celebrating their 50th anniversary. The other couple was celebrating their 30th anniversary.

Another couple had lost their wedding ring in a hotel on vacation. They told Mr. Buffett their story and he related a story that his late wife, Susan Buffett, had lost a ring in a similar situation many years ago.

A young man who just graduated from college purchased a watch for himself as a graduation gift. Imagine the story he’ll have when he tells people his salesman was Warren Buffett!

And our favorite story, a woman who purchased jewelry here at Borsheims both Friday night and Saturday came back for more when she heard Mr. Buffett was selling. She bought a beautiful Ashoka diamond ring from him. Who says you can’t shop at Borsheims three days in a row? And when you’re getting the Berkshire Hathaway shareholder discount, you’d better take advantage of it!

Warren Buffett: Successful Jewelry Salesman

Sunday, May 1st, 2011

If Warren Buffett ever retires as Chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, we’d be proud to offer him a new job as salesman at Borsheims! In just about one hour this afternoon, Mr. Buffett made several big sales. The shareholders who were able to purchase from Mr. Buffett enjoyed chatting with him and having their photos taken.

We snapped a few pictures ourselves:

We think Mr. Buffett enjoyed his time here, too. Maybe he had so much fun that he’ll want a part-time gig here. We’re always looking for a top-notch salesman like Warren!

Warren Buffett to sell jewelry at Borsheims TODAY!

Sunday, May 1st, 2011

Do you have your wallets and purses ready, shareholders? Warren Buffett is probably doing some of his pre-sales training right now to prepare for this afternoon at Borsheims.

Warren Buffett has told Berkshire Hathaway shareholders that he’ll be at Borsheims around 1pm to sell to shareholders. I’m sure he would sell you anything, but I am also sure that he’d prefer to sell you something really expensive! He does want to prove he’s a “hot-shot salesman.”

So how can you be one of the lucky few who will get to buy from the big guy himself? Good question.

All we know is that he’ll be in Borsheims sometime around 1pm. So if you’re in the store and actively shopping, there’s a good chance he may show up and be your salesman.

If you’re not at Borsheims today, check back here all day for updates, pictures and video of Warren’s big day on the sales floor!

Berkshire Hathaway shareholders get engaged in Borsheims

Friday, April 29th, 2011

If you thought the Royal wedding was romantic… check this out!

These shareholders got engaged at Borsheims just a few minutes ago. Dick and Cynthia have been dating for about a year and a half. They were in Omaha for the Berkshire Hathaway shareholders’ meeting last year and returned this year to look at rings.

When Dick put this cushion cut emerald on Cynthia’s finger, it fit just right. So he asked her to marry him. Right there at the counter.

There was crying. And then lots of kissing!

And there was, of course, a very excited ‘yes’!!!

We are so thrilled for them, and so excited we could be a part of their big day. Congratulations Dick and Cynthia!!!
