We love the investment advice, but we also love the details about the Berkshire Hathaway Annual Shareholders meeting… especially the news that Warren Buffett will get behind the counter at Borsheims and sell jewelry! More details today in the Omaha World-Herald’s Warren Watch (and succession talk, too!).
In his annual letter to Berkshire Hathaway shareholders, Warren Buffett announced he would be selling jewelry at Borsheims during this year’s Berkshire Hathaway annual shareholders weekend. We know he used to sell shoes, but does he know what it takes to sell jewelry? One of our newest sales associates talks about the intense training it takes to become a jewelry pro at Borsheims:
We know Warren Buffett will be a great salesperson, even without the jewelry training. If you want to buy something from Mr. Buffett, he’ll be selling at Borsheims on Sunday, May 1, 2011, during the shareholders only shopping event. You can always buy now, too, at www.borsheims.com.
Our local newspaper, the Omaha World-Herald, always has wonderful coverage of all things Warren Buffett. The day after the release of Mr. Buffett’s letter to Berkshire Hathaway shareholders is no exception.
Steve Jordon has been covering Warren Buffett for years and does a weekly column called Warren Watch. They devoted an entire section to the letter, and you can read most of it on their website here.
Another great article comes from the Wall Street Journal. They compiled a list of quips and quotes from the annual letter. View their list here.
At Borsheims, our favorite quip from the letter is easy to pick out! In talking about the Berkshire Hathaway shareholders weekend, Mr. Buffett says “Remember: Anyone who says money can’t buy happiness simply hasn’t learned where to shop.”
We agree! If you need a little happiness before April 30th, visit www.borsheims.com. We’re happy to ship a little happiness your way!
Love all things Berkshire Hathaway, but don’t have the time this morning to read through Warren Buffett’s annual letter to Berkshire Hathaway shareholders? Let the journalists do the hard work for you:
Warren Buffett’s annual letter to Berkshire Hathaway shareholders will be released this Saturday morning (February 26). Other websites call the letter eagerly anticipated, vital for business theory, full of zingers and required reading. We agree with all those assessments.
We’ll be reading it the same time you are, and then we’ll post the highlights here.
And if you have questions for Mr. Buffett after reading the letter, we know how you can ask him! No – we don’t have his personal phone number, but Becky Quick of CNBC might! She’s visiting with the Oracle of Omaha next week and wants you to help come up with some questions. See the article from CNBC here.
We are all patiently awaiting the Saturday release of Warren’s Letter to the shareholders. Make sure to check it out Saturday on the Berkshire Hathaway website. Every year this Warren’s letter chronicles the successes and stalls of Berkshire Hathaway’s companies over the last year. The letter provides a great introduction to Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger’s address to shareholders at the Berkshire Hathaway Annual Shareholder’s Meeting.
As soon as the letter is posted our blog will link to it. We always like to give the letter a few good reads before coming to the shareholder’s meeting in May. Warren’s letter often acts as a showcase to his shareholder address and Q&A session. If you want to review any past letters to get an idea of what is coming. Check out all the letters to shareholders since 1977 here.
